The Junior orchestra

The spring board

Welcome to the AJSO Junior orchestra, the highest educational orchestra of the AJSO Foundation. This is the final phase that young people go through before they can audition for the top orchestra, the AJSO.

Teenagers who are not yet fully qualified for the AJSO or for whom there is no place yet in the AJSO, play in this orchestra. The repertoire is fun and varied and requires a good level of playing. Listening to each other, understanding the music, concentration and studying regularly, are necessary to be able to perform in this orchestra.

The Junior orchestra gives its own concert every year but also performs elsewhere. In 2018 the junior orchestra achieved second place during the National Competition for Youth Symphony Orchestras in the Doelen in Rotterdam.

Would you like to play along with us? You are very welcome to attend a rehearsel!

  • Rosamunde Overture – Franz Schubert (arr. Richard Meyer)
